The Foundation for Infant Loss Training: Accredited Pregnancy and Infant Loss Funeral Professional

As a means to an introduction, we have been established for over a decade for our work in training professionals who work with families following a pregnancy or infant loss. This year we received the accolade of National contribution to Midwifery Education for our work in infant loss training and we are also in the running for “Life time achievement” at this years Good Funeral Guide Awards in September. We also delivered a seminar in pregnancy and infant loss at the National Association of Funeral Directors Exhibition this year. We are also looking forward to meeting many of you at the NFDA in Boston soon!.

We have firm alliances with both national and international baby loss charities and we have assisted and worked with several thousand bereaved families over the years.

We conducted a recent study where we interviewed bereaved parents about the support they received from their funeral director. The findings were whilst there were some fantastic funeral directors, there were some  who clearly had not received any specific pregnancy and infant loss training. This is something we aim to change.

We have developed an online course which is video based for funeral professionals along with planned live webinars. We also have a closed Facebook group and a monthly zoom call for support and to share thoughts and ideas as professionals.

We will soon commence our next training block will commence and we are looking for funeral professionals who wish to receive accreditation from ourselves. You will be sent our accredited logo to use on all promotional material and we will compile a database of accredited members  to share with our wealth of international contacts such as bereavement midwives, baby loss charities, children’s hospices, hospitals, morticians, the police and coroners.

We will also be sharing a list of our accredited members to the NAFD, SAIF, The Good Funeral Guide and The World Organization of Funeral Operatives for reference
